Children's Church has been operative since 1986. Mrs. Joyce Ruth was the first coordinator and leader of Children's Church and served for a number of years. The children truly loved "Mrs. Ruth" who possessed that motherly touch and a very effective teaching skill to reach the children with the word of God. During Mrs. Ruth's tenure, Children's Church was held in the Fellowship Hall of the church facility.
In 2002, MMBC completed a newly constructed 2,700 square foot Chapel and Family Life Center Complex facility with a 150 seating capacity Chapel at a total cost of $3.04 Million. This facility provides the children with a place of worship in an absolutely beautiful setting. Minister Milferd Brock was appointed to serve as Minister of Children; therefore, he served as Worship Leader for about four years. His ministry was very effective and meaningful to the children. In April 2007, Minister Gary Jordan replaced Minister Brock who resigned to assume the pastorate of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Pauline, SC. Minister Jordan conducted the worship services with relevant inspiring biblical sermons to the children. In January 2008, Minister Jordan was relieved of serving as Minister for Children and Teen Church so that he could concentrate more on the Teen's Ministry of the MMBC and Teen's Church. Currently, Mrs. Joyce Ruth has been re-assigned to serve as Director of Children Church. Mrs. Ruth is very skillful at providing a biblically based relevant teaching lesson to the children in each worship service experience. The children are given opportunities to participate in worship through singing, scripture readings, prayers, and fellowship. Children's Church is held two Sundays a month.
Children's Church is available to all members and non-members children. Visitors are encouraged to attend. Children who attend MMBC Children's Church and leave excited and blessed.
Rev. Paulette Porter-Hallmon is the current Minister of Children's Church. As a public elementary school teacher and a graduate of Gardner-Webb Theological Seminary, Rev. Atkins brings a skill set commensurate to providing a biblically-based ministry to children. Children's Church is held every 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month.
